As the conference chair for the upcoming Asia Association of Test Publishers (A-ATP) conference in Bangkok from November 17-19, 2024, I’m excited to share our vision, as well as to facilitate, and lead this gathering of thought leaders and innovators from the assessment community.
Asia is contending with several challenges: diverse and rapidly expanding populations, disruptive demographic trends, as well as climate change. With the increasing professionalization of many industry sectors, providing greater access to testing and assessment, and empowering people to develop new skills will be key to long-term success. An event like Asia-ATP shines the spotlight on this influential region across the global economy – bringing people from all around the testing community together to share knowledge, best practice, and unique insights.
With the theme – ‘Stepping into the Future: Burning Questions about Testing and Education in Asia’, this year’s conference will focus on three key objectives:
- Enhancing testing program quality through innovative new product launches, theoretical presentations, and assessment best practices
- Identifying key industry trends across Asian markets
- Facilitating local practitioners’ access to quality test content, technological innovations, and professional networks globally.
The testing and assessment landscape has undergone significant changes in recent years, driven by evolving needs in education, technological advancements, and economic shocks and recoveries. Our goal at A-ATP 2024 is to bring together industry leaders, educators, psychometricians, and change-makers to explore these developments in depth. We’re focusing on several key topics this year that will pave the way and help us step into the future of assessments. Notable sessions include:
- The integration of AI in assessments
- The development of quality workforce skills and education in Southeast Asia
- Digital empowerment for accessibility, inclusion, and lifelong learning
- Reimagining assessment and learning through modern psychometrics and technological advancements.
I look forward to welcoming you to Bangkok, the ‘City of Angels’ where together we’ll explore how our industry can come together to meet the demands of tomorrow’s learners and professionals. Convene, connect, and contribute to the only assessment conference in Asia where you’ll get to meet assessments leaders in one place from Thailand, China, Japan, South Korea, India, Australia, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and many other Southeast Asia regions.
