CORPORATION SPONSORS THE LINUX JOURNAL'S ULTIMATE LINUX GEEK CONTEST
Stack your in-depth Linux savvy up against thousands of Linux users
worldwide and you could be sailing the high seas with Linus Torvald
TORONTO, July 14, 2003 - Linux geeks of the world take note: Sangoma
Technologies Corporation (www.sangoma.com),
invites you to put your Linux knowledge to the test and you could be crowned
the Ultimate Linux Geek, winning an all expenses paid trip for two aboard
the Linux Lunacy to Alaska cruise -- setting sail from Seattle, September
13-20, 2003. While on board, you will have the rare chance to mingle with
Linux royalty, including Linus
Torvald.
To demonstrate its commitment to the open source technology, Sangoma
Technologies, an award-winning Wide Area Network (WAN) communication
hardware and software manufacturer, is sponsoring the Linux Journal's search
for the Ultimate Linux Geek in over 1,000 Linux Users Groups (LUGs) in 97
countries. Linux aficionados are challenged to enter this exciting on-line
tournament, beginning July 28, 2003, and answer 30 skill-testing questions
about the open source technology, the Linux Journal, and Sangoma
Technologies' products.
"Our WANPIPET drivers supporting WAN routing have been a part of the Linux
kernel since version 1.3," says Sangoma Technologies' CTO Gideon Hack.
"Together with our versatile, high performance WAN cards, WANPIPET has put
the power of connectivity into the hands of Linux users."
The first 100 participants to correctly answer all 30 questions will advance
to the second round of the contest. These top 100 semi-finalists will be
announced at the Linux World Conference in San Francisco on August 4, 2003.
"The opportunities within Linux are huge, it's the way the world is going,"
adds Sangoma Technologies' president and CEO David Mandelstam. "The Linux
Lunacy to Alaska cruise is a great chance for Sangoma Technologies to reach
out to the Linux community and to give something back to that community."
To participate, all challengers must be members of any recognized LUG and be
a member of the Linux Journal's Groups of Linux Users Everywhere (GLUE)
program. If you are not a member of either, click
www.linuxjournal.com/glue to
find the nearest LUG to you.
To be a true Linux geek is a prestigious honor and so, in cooperation with
Sangoma Technologies, we've created a prestigious award that suits
that distinction," says the Linux Journal's Marty Seto. "We got the Linux
leaders and the cream of the crop of the Linux community together to present
all Linux users with a fun, live, interactive experience."
On July 28, 2003 at 10 a.m. EST, the 30 questions will be posted live on
Sangoma Technologies' Web site at
