Speaking on Concepts and Models for Open Source Licensing: Making the Right Choice for Business, LPI president Evan Leibovitch will address, “How does a business that would like to use or build community-based software make the right selection”? “Between public domain and fully proprietary software, there are varying choices that have been mapped out by companies and organizations. However, not all of these are in reality open source,” says Leibovitch. “This is an excellent opportunity for businesses to reduce its research time and access critical, timely information.” Scheduled for Tuesday, April 29 at 11:15 am, Leibovitch will present an overview of the benefits and pitfalls of each model; their suitability to specific projects and the criteria used to determine which are truly open source. LPI is also offering certification exams 101 and 201 at the conference. Offered in room 809 at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, April 29th and 30th, candidates must pre-register by clicking http://www.lpi.org/c-registration.html to receive a LPI registration number before testing on-site.
