LINUX PROFESSIONAL INSTITUTE OFFERS CERTIFICATION TESTING AT CEBIT

HANOVER, GERMANY, February 21, 2003 - The Linux Professional Institute (LPI),
Offered in the Convention Center, CeBit Fair Grounds at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm, March 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18, candidates must pre-register by clicking http://www.lpi.org/c-registration.html to receive a LPI registration number before testing on-site. An administration fee of 20Euros will be charged.

In addition to its testing offering, LPI's executive administrator Wilma Silberman and Torsen Scheck, software engineer, S.O.T. GmbH will present "Linux Certification Done Right" at the Open Source Exchange Conference, Monday, March 17 at 12:30 pm.
"There are many models for certification. Some are profit-making, some are non-profit. Some compete for training dollars and some do not," adds Silberman. "Certification of systems administrators as qualified Linux professionals is so important that LPI was formed as a non-profit organization to bring a standard, vendor-neutral testing of skills to the world."
LPI's mandate is to design and deliver a certification program from within the Linux community, using both volunteer and professional resources. It has been ranked number one on the list of certifications expected to rise the 'fastest in importance' according to the 2002 CRN Certification study. LPI has also been selected as the winner, for the second consecutive year, of the Linux Journal's annual Editors' Choice Awards in the Training and Certification category. LPI has delivered over 20,000 Level One and Level Two certification exams globally since the program's inception in just two years.
