LINUX PROFESSIONAL INSTITUTE RELEASES UPDATED LEVEL ONE EXAMINATIONS
~ Exams Now Test For RPM or Debian Package Management Systems ~
TORONTO, March 31, 2003 - The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), (www.lpi.org),
the premier professional certification program for the Linux community,
has released the latest English-language version of its Level One
examinations.
Available immediately through all Pearson VUE and Prometric testing
centers worldwide, the refreshed exams continue to test Linux knowledge
and skills of IT professionals with a choice of either the "RPM" or "Debian"
package management systems.
"As Linux grows in importance worldwide, we must continue to build a
stronger and knowledgeable IT community," says LPI's president Evan
Leibovitch. "LPI continues to demonstrate the growth of Linux in the
commercial market with a new feature in the 101 exam, a choice between
being tested on either the RPM or Debian package management system.
LPI's mandate is to design and deliver a certification program from within
the Linux community, using both volunteer and professional resources. It
has been ranked number one on the list of certifications expected to rise
the 'fastest in importance' according to the 2002 CRN Certification
study. LPI has also been selected as the winner, for the second
consecutive year, of the Linux Journal's annual Editors' Choice Awards in
the Training and Certification category. LPI has delivered over 20,000
Level One and Level Two certification exams globally since the program's
inception in just two years.
"We have to provide IT professionals with a solid challenge to ensure
their knowledge base mirror today's reality," adds Leibovitch. "Because
most professionals aren't expected to know both management systems, our
new exam closely copies their training programs and work experiences."
