LINUX PROFESSIONAL INSTITUTE ACCEPTED AS MEMBER:

ASSOCIATION OF TEST PUBLISHERS

~ Only Linux-centric Certification Program Capable To Join ~

TORONTO, ON, November 21, 2002 – The Linux Professional Institute (LPI) (www.lpi.org), the premier professional certification program for the Linux community, has been accepted as a member with the Association of Test Publishers (www.testpublishers.org), a non-profit organization representing providers of tests and assessment tools and services.

"We are proud to have met the stringent ethical and quality requirements of ATP membership," says LPI’s president Evan Leibovitch. "LPI is currently the only Linux-centric certification body with the psychometric commitment necessary to become a member of the test-publishing community."

"Having LPI come on board as a full member establishes it as an organization dedicated to the highest level of professionalism and business ethics within the test publishing community." adds ATP’s executive director Dr. William G. Harris. "Certifications have now become both a hiring and a screening tool for many companies looking to employ IT professionals. By committing itself to quality testing, LPI is positioning themselves as a global provider of Linux certifications."

"Our new membership also allow us to network with other like-minded organizations by sharing information and collaborating on possible projects including low-cost exam delivery for the developing world," says Leibovitch. "We look forward to being a full participant in the organization’s activities."

LPI’s mandate is to design and deliver a certification program from within the Linux community, using both volunteer and professional resources. It has been ranked number one on the list of certifications expected to rise the ‘fastest in importance’ according to the recently released 2002 CRN Certification study. LPI has also been selected as the winner, for the second consecutive year, of the Linux Journal’s annual Editors' Choice Awards in the Training and Certification category. LPI has delivered almost 20,000 Level One and Level Two certification exams globally since the program’s inception in January 2000.
