LINUX PROFESSIONAL INSTITUTE OFFERS FREE CERTIFICATION TESTING AT LINUXWORLD CONFERENCE & EXPO NEW YORK

TORONTO, January 13, 2003 - The Linux Professional Institute (LPI), (www.lpi.org), the premier professional certification program for the Linux community, is offering free LPI certification testing at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo, Jacob K. Javitz Convention Center in New York

Offered in room 1E04 at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 22; Thursday, January 23; and Friday, January 24; candidates must pre-register by clicking www.lpi.org/c-register.html to receive a LPI registration number before testing on-site.

"This is a tremendous opportunity to build a pool of LPI certified professionals," says LPI's president Evan Leibovitch. "Because there will be hundreds of potential certifiable candidates at the conference, we recognize this is an excellent way to get the word out that a healthy certified body of Linux professionals clearly supports integration of the platform within the enterprise."

LPI's mandate is to design and deliver a certification program from within the Linux community, using both volunteer and professional resources. It has been ranked number one on the list of certifications expected to rise the 'fastest in importance' according to the 2002 CRN Certification study.  LPI has also been selected as the winner, for the second consecutive year, of the Linux Journal's annual Editors' Choice Awards in the Training and Certification category. LPI has delivered over 20,000 Level 1 and Level 2 certification exams globally since the program's inception in just two
years.

"Building on the success of our free testing sessions at LinuxWorld Conference & Expo in Frankfurt last October, this is yet another way to bolster our professionalism and increase certified expertise in the Linux community," adds Leibovitch.  "We greatly appreciate the assistance of the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo in helping to make our latest free testing opportunity happen."
